Throwback Thursday

My Throwback Thursday song for the night is "Get By" by Talib Kweli. This has always been one of my favorite rap songs. Not just because it has a great sound, but the I love the message. For anyone who has struggled for anything, you can relate to this song. Kweli murders his lyrics and the result is an inspirational song.

"This morning, I woke up
Feeling brand new, I jumped up
Feeling my highs and my lows
In my soul and my goals
Just to stop smoking and stop drinking
I've been thinking, I've got my reasons
Just to get by, just to get by
Just to get by, just to get by"

Nike Women's Marathon

Nike Women's Marathon This was my second year running a half in the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. My experience this time around was way better than the first and I know it's because I got to run with my best friend and partner in crime, Daisy. That's Daisy on the left!! A few facts about the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco: 1. It is the largest women's marathon in the world with more than 30,000 people participating this year. 2. This year was the 10th anniversary of the run. 3. All finishers of the race receive a Tiffany & Co. necklace. 4. The scenery is amazing. 5. The hills suck. When my friend Daisy and I got to San Francisco the day before for the expo, the energy in the city was electric. We walked around the expo for a little while taking pictures, getting free stuff, and checking out all the new Nike gear. After we got our packets, we headed over to the Nike store. One of the walls ...

Kendrick

There are not many moments in life where you can remember the first time you heard a particular artist or musician and knew you were a fan immediately. In the late summer of 2011, I remember the moment I first heard Kendrick Lamar. My brother had just burned me The Game's R.E.D. Album and I was listening to the intro. The second track, "The City" came on and I was already blown away by the melodic, soulful beat accompanied by the female vocals that sounded like a gospel followed by The Game's verse. And then I heard Kendrick Lamar.  At that moment, I knew Kendrick Lamar was unlike anyone I had ever heard before. His voice is raspy, lyrics are poetic, and he raps in a way where he builds up by getting more and more aggressive almost as if he's telling a story and building to the climax with his flow. And then the outro. Oh my god. I immediately downloaded his album Overly Dedicated on iTunes for $6.99 and was impressed at his true, lyrical talent. It's...

Don't Kill My Vibe

With the leaves officially changing colors, comes a new wardrobe with Earth tones. I love the urban look and I love being comfortable so this outfit is a combination of both. I originally bought this jacket because it reminded me of the army green jacket Linda Cardellini wore on my favorite show, Freaks and Geeks. My combat boots are also one of my favorites any time of the year. It was a gorgeous day to be outside so I hope you got to enjoy this perfect Fall day!  Beanie: H&M Top: PacSun Jeans: Cotton On Jacket: Express Boots: Love Culture
