Looking Back at 2013

Since 2013 is coming to a close, I thought I would take a moment to look back at this amazing year and take some time to appreciate all of the great things that happened. I used pictures so I have a memory of every month that passed. I know some people hate getting older, but each year is better than the next in my life and I can't wait to see what 2014 has in store for me. January: I went blonde!! February: Enjoying the blonde life March: Beautiful flowers from my lover March: A birthday surprise at work from my BFF                               March: Figuring out I want an apartment in the city with a view like this    March: Lakers/Warriors Game March: Still Enjoying my work surprise April: At school counting the days down to graduation May: Graduation!! Finally after years in college, I graduated. June: NYC Nike Store June: NYC Natural Hist...

Life After Death

Today I was driving to the Bay Area and talking about how Paul Walker died so tragically this past weekend. I started reading about what celebrities were saying about Walker and to sum it up, he was a down-to-earth guy who knew there was more to life than a glamorous Hollywood lifestyle. He started a charity to give back to people less fortunate who faced tragedy because of natural disasters. I started to wonder, why is it always the good people who go?  It's never the people who this world would be better without. Then I realized, if the good ones weren't taken away, life wouldn't be put in perspective. We wouldn't realize just how much we have to lose. I started to think about death and if I were to die tomorrow, what would my legacy be? What would people say about me? I hope I would be remembered for good things, not bad.   Steve Jobs said that thinking about death is the only way he knew how to live.  Maybe we all need to think that way so we live...

Giving Thanks

I always hear people mock days like today and say, "We don't need a day to say that we are grateful. We are grateful everyday." Or something along that line. Yes, it is true that we are grateful everyday. However, I am sure in the madness and stress that is our everyday life, we do not take time out to thank people in our lives that we love and count all of our blessings. There is nothing wrong with taking days like Thanksgiving, or other days, to take time out and tell people how much you appreciate having them in your life, because it is true that at other times we forget.  So today, I give thanks- For my family, For my friends, For my health, For my job, For my LIFE. And for anyone taking the time out to read this. You really don't have to. So thank you. "Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should incl...

Sephora Goodies!

So after about a week of trying out all of these new goodies, I think I can now give a fair review of how everything is working out. I'm going to start with my favorite: Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation : This is single handedly THE BEST foundation I have ever had. I have been using BB creams or tinted moisturizer lately because I want a little bit of coverage but not too much. This foundation is really light like a tinted moisturizer, but has the perfect amount of coverage. The liquid is white when it comes out of the bottle and then pigments to the color of your skin as soon as you apply it. Literally, the BEST.  Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumper : Lip plumper is my new favorite thing. I have thinner lips and using this gloss gives a little added volume. Beware, there is a tingling sensation that is not for everyone. I happen to like it, but some people may feel like their lips are burning. Use with caution!  BB Thickening Spray : I first started usi...

Throwback Thursday

My Throwback Thursday song for the night is "Get By" by Talib Kweli. This has always been one of my favorite rap songs. Not just because it has a great sound, but the I love the message. For anyone who has struggled for anything, you can relate to this song. Kweli murders his lyrics and the result is an inspirational song.  " This morning, I woke up Feeling brand new, I jumped up Feeling my highs and my lows In my soul and my goals Just to stop smoking and stop drinking I've been thinking, I've got my reasons Just to get by, just to get by Just to get by, just to get by"

Behind These Castle Walls

Summer may be over but that doesn't mean you have to stop wearing shorts! Everyone who knows me knows I can't get enough of the urban look. Or skulls. I love everything that is spikes and skulls. Today was raining all day so looking at this picture makes me realize how much I'm going to miss those beautiful, sunny days. I still say you can wear shorts, though. Just throw on some cute leggings or tights and you will be able to stay warm and still wear shorts with any kind of weather! In other news, make sure to check out the Pusha T album. It is dope! I will have a review posted soon. Until next time! Outfit Jacket: Foreign Exchange Shirt: H&M Shorts: Lulu Necklace: Foreign Exchange Shoes: Madden Girl

The Pomegranate

Okay so I have been on this pomegranate kick lately. I think it's because every time I'm at home, I see these big pomegranates sitting in the fruit basket and my mom eats one every night. We always have them. I remember we had a pomegranate tree in our backyard in the house I grew up in. I didn't even know the English word for them back then. I think I actually just learned it a few years ago when I saw them sprouting up every where. Anyway, ever since I was a kid my mom and I ate these things. She would peel some for me and sprinkle sugar on them. It was delicious. So the other day, I grabbed one and started to cut it. It's pretty fun eating these things because it's an event. You work for your food and you're entertained while doing it. I've been eating one just about every night this week so I wanted to find out some more stuff about the health benefits. Have you ever heard how they say vegetables and fruits that look like parts of your body are go...

Lady In Red

This season is one of my favorites because you can take any a winter outfit and subtract a few layers and have a Fall favorite!!!! I love this dress because it is one of the most comfortable things to wear. I paired it with some brown combat boots to make it more casual. You can take a pair of heels to dress up the look and turn it from day to night and add a scarf or pea coat for some added layers and warmth. Besides natural colors, red is one of my favorite for Fall/Winter. This shade of red goes perfect with brown tones so you can easily see why it's great for Fall. For my eyeshadow, I used the Lorac Tantalizer Glow To Go collection with eyeshadows in tahitian sand, barbados bronze, and costa rican coffee. I also used creep from the naked palette on my outer creases to blend in the smokey eye effect. I am wearing Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad in bisque for my face make up. I love this product because it gives just enough coverage to even out my skin tone and you ca...

Don't Kill My Vibe

With the leaves officially changing colors, comes a new wardrobe with Earth tones. I love the urban look and I love being comfortable so this outfit is a combination of both. I originally bought this jacket because it reminded me of the army green jacket Linda Cardellini wore on my favorite show, Freaks and Geeks. My combat boots are also one of my favorites any time of the year. It was a gorgeous day to be outside so I hope you got to enjoy this perfect Fall day!  Beanie: H&M Top: PacSun Jeans: Cotton On Jacket: Express Boots: Love Culture
